Sketch of R.O. Blechman

I happened to see the conversation between Seth and R.O. Blechman at the International Festival of Authors this year here in Toronto -- very encouraging! During the afternoon talk, I had the audacity to doodle Mr. Blechman. Certainly not a true likenes, but here it is nonetheless.

Mom's chair

Sue Ericsson's Drawing Fundamentals class at Ryerson. It's my mother's old chair in our living room. I had sketched it rough, and then used the sketch as a reference for this shading exercise in the class.

cottage snow

Not a regular sketch, I know, but I couldn't help but share these amazing photos we grabbed at our cottage early Sat. morning.

A freak snowstorm hit our region early November (thank you global warming) as we were closing it down for the winter, covering the trees with wet snow. It didn't last more than a couple of days, but it was an awsome spectacle while it lasted. I didn't use the flash and so most (if not all) of these photos are every-so-annoyingly out of focus when you view them large.

What was particularly amazing was the snow contrasted with the river water down by the dock. During the spring and summer the water is an inviting bright green, but during the winter it appears black, and is actually quite deadly becuase it is deep, still has a current, and does not freeze over. Just an awsome spectacle of nature.
